Orders for Christmas…

We are now taking orders for Christmas, some of our friends order larger 6 or 8 portions to use over the festive season. We thought it was a good idea so have started taking more orders. Everything is freshly cooked so you can pop it in the freezer and get it out over the holidays on the day that you want an easy dinner or lunch.

1,2, 6 or 8 portions or any combination of  lasagna are available. It is £3.95 a portion as we ask for a £10.00 returnable deposit for the ceramic lasagna dishes for the 6 or 8 portion sizes. There are three ways to order:

01. East Oxford Farmers Market – We will be at the #EastOxfordFarmersMarket on Sat 3rd and will be bringing the orders along to the market on Christmas Eve. www.eastoxfordmarket.org.uk

02. Order for collection at the  Sandford-On-Thames Talking Shop on Saturdays. You can order by either emailing orders.talkingshop@gmail.com or calling Abi on 01865774661. www.talkingshopsandford.wordpress.com

03. Drop us an e-mail thecook@cici-coco.com or give us a call 01844 290482 and place you order and we will sort out a way of getting the lasagna to you.

Sandford Food Market

Saturday saw our first visit to the Sandford Food Market… it was a great day and we met lots of fellow food fans. We sold out of our lasagnas at the show and are now introducing an ordering system in partnership with the market.

Orders can be placed with Abi at orders.talkingshop@gmail.com by Tuesday and then the dishes will be ready to be picked up in the Saturday. Find out more about ordering and other delicious food available at the Sandford Market website by clicking here.

We have also introduced a new idea for larger orders. 6 or 8 portions can be ordered from the market and they will be supplied in oven proof ceramic dishes. For a deposit you can cook your dish at home and then return the dish to next week. Saves on packaging and so is good for the environment and good for the taste.

Thame Food Festival – Biggest yet

The Thame Food Festival was huge this year – almost as soon as we put out the food at 9am on the dot people started to stop at the stand. We sold our of Roasted Beetroot & Walnut Pesto first quickly followed but our other pesto, Caponata and then the Pork, Apple & Quince Lasagna. At the end of the day we has sold out of everything -

Later that evening we got a text from one of our customers…

‘Just had your Pork & Apple Lasagna… it was amazing… the cook is a legend. In fact we have just put the vege one in the oven for desert!!’

Makes all the work worthwhile! And as a bonus we met Robin from the Granary Deli (www.granarydeli.co.uk) and picked up some amazing cheese.

East Oxford Farmers’ Market | 23rd July 2011

We are there tomorrow and will be launching out new Roast Beetroot & Walnut Pesto… absolutely delicious…

Recipe:

ROASTED BEETROOT & WALNUT PENNE
Ingredients:
50g Beetroot & Walnut Pesto
400g of Penne pasta
200ml of single cream
To Garnish:
Freshly grated Parmigiano Reggiano
Chopped basil
Chopped roasted walnuts (to taste)

Warm the pesto in a pan with a little extra virgin olive oil. In the mean time cook the pasta ‘al dente’ in salted water.

Add the cream to the warm pesto, stir well and cook for few minutes until the mixture is warmed through (add some milk if the mixture is too thick). Mix the cooked pasta into the sauce until it is well coated. Divide into the plates and garnish with a lot of grated Parmigiano Reggiano, freshly chopped basil and more chopped roasted walnuts. Yummy…
