East Oxford Farmers’ Market | 23rd July 2011

We are there tomorrow and will be launching out new Roast Beetroot & Walnut Pesto… absolutely delicious…

Recipe:

ROASTED BEETROOT & WALNUT PENNE
Ingredients:
50g Beetroot & Walnut Pesto
400g of Penne pasta
200ml of single cream
To Garnish:
Freshly grated Parmigiano Reggiano
Chopped basil
Chopped roasted walnuts (to taste)

Warm the pesto in a pan with a little extra virgin olive oil. In the mean time cook the pasta ‘al dente’ in salted water.

Add the cream to the warm pesto, stir well and cook for few minutes until the mixture is warmed through (add some milk if the mixture is too thick). Mix the cooked pasta into the sauce until it is well coated. Divide into the plates and garnish with a lot of grated Parmigiano Reggiano, freshly chopped basil and more chopped roasted walnuts. Yummy…

Cuddington Village Fête | 9th July 2011

Cuddington Fête… Saturday, July 9th.
Watch out for us in Lower Church Street with our Cuddington Fête Special… our Lasagna alla Napolitana. The ‘special’ fete lasagna is based on a recipe from Naples and was made with pork meatballs, tomatoes, eggs and mozzarella layered with fresh pasta and a light ragù sauce.
Importantly the pork is from rare breed Oxford Sandy & Black Pigs raised in Cuddington by Ben & Karen Clayton, www.porkandginger.co.uk.
Like the fete it’s a once a year experience…

Wheatley Farm Shop Grand Opening | Sat 21 May 2011

The grand opening the Wheatley Farm Shop was a great success. A steady stream of new customers arrived all day to sample to free hog roast, watch to Morris dancing and of course sample some of the products  that will be available in the new Farm Shop.

We were there sampling our spring special, Lasagna alla Napoletana (lasagna made with meatballs, mozzarella and egg combined with a light pork ragu sauce, fresh pasta and a bechamel). The special sold out by 2pm and the classic and vegetarian also sold really well.

Looks like the new Farm Shop is going to be a great success…congratulations to Carol & Dave on a great day…
